Every year in August, Littleton hosts Western Welcome Week, a ten-day street fair to draw attention to Denver's local non-profit organizations. The summertime jubilee includes an Arts and Crafts Fair and forty events from the Colorado Frisbee Dogs competition to a toga party. During the fete, downtown Littleton comes alive with two parades: the Grand Parade and the Children's Parade.

The city's downtown area is hinged upon its former town hall, which was transformed into the Town Hall Performing Arts Center almost 25 years ago. There, you can catch classic musicals and plays or send the kiddies to a summer theater workshops. Outside the historical old town district, in the southern-most region of Littleton, spend the day at Chatfield Reservoir or the Hudson Gardens, a five-acre floral oasis where you can stroll among the display gardens.

To relieve the shopping itch, spend an afternoon at Aspen Grove, an open-air strip mall on Aspen Grove Way. There you'll find Gap, Victoria's Secret, Chico's, Apple, Shaper Image—the list goes on. Dine at Buca di Beppo for southern Italian fare in generous portions to share with the entire table. Finish the evening off at Cold Stone Creamery for a made-to-order ice cream delicacy.
